Lake Nakuru National Park – on safari

Been on a game drive/ safari today. Saw water buffalo, impalas, python, rhino, zebra, giraffe, eagles and lions with their lion cubs. Was brilliant and we had a good laugh in our jeep. It started to rain and the jeep got stuck but we managed to skid out!! Have had so many varied and different experienced, it’s nearly over now. I will be sad to leave Kenya but looking forward  [ Read More ]

Time to relax now!

Morning! Just had some breakfast. It was nice to be able to take my time and not have to have weetabix! There are loads of hippos in the lake and you can see them from the hotel. They woke us up in the night roaring and making noises like a lion! We have a 4 hour transfer today and then a few of us are off on safari this afternoon.  [ Read More ]

The finish line!

Wow, what a day. There was no respite from the intensity of the cycling today. We cycled 57 km through countryside and villages and we are now in the 3rd largest town in Kenya called kisumu. The finish line!!

Well, mission accomplished! I crossed the finish line and am so proud of myself and now having a few beers. X

Day 5 is here, last day!!

Ready for our last 57 km. Cant believe it’s the last day it’s gone fast! Wish me luck, my body aches all over so it’s going to be mental strength today!! Looking forward to the finish line. We had a minutes silence yesterday for our friends and family not with us, which was very emotional and reminded us why were are here. See you later! X

Day 4 – End, and a well deserved beer!

Day 4 – It’s me!!

Hi everyone, I’m in a hotel that has wifi, at last! The accommodation has been pretty basic to say the least! Well, I have now completed day 4 and am still in one piece. I have a bit of nerve damage in my left hand but it’s temporary, that’s from gripping on for dear life coming down some of the mountains! Yesterday was a massive achievement for me. I was  [ Read More ]

Day 3 – crocs and everything!

Hi all, This is Kaz blogging today as the wifi isn’t great where Jane is at the moment so she’s called me with an update and to keep you all informed of her progress. Jane had finished the most gruelling day of the trip!! Only 18 out of the 60 ladies completed today on the bike and she was one of them!! Amazing achievement for her personally, and to complete  [ Read More ]

Day 2 – End

Hi everyone, First of all thank you all for your comments as they are really getting me through. All is well. We arrived at the hotel and it’s very basic, certainly not your local Hilton with the toilets being two holes side by side! But it’s all good and I’m really enjoying the experience. Tomorrow will be the hardest day of all as there’s lots of cycling up hills: from Kabarnet  [ Read More ]
